Dr Joanne Pottow told me she was handed a perfect piece of AI-generated work by her daughter. Perfect English, perfect grammar, polished enough to look as though there was nothing left to question. It was a book review. And it was also about the wrong book. Joanne is a fertility specialist, so her working life sits in a field where expertise counts because the consequences do. She wasn’t especially worried about AI replacing her, she’s more worried about the person who has never learnt enough to spot when the immaculate answer is nonsense.
It was brilliant, but if you hadn’t read the book yourself, you’d never know it was wrong.
