The people who thrive in industrial shifts are the ones willing to move from doing the task to owning the decision. AI will automate and commoditise many cognitive tasks. Some roles will shrink or reshape. Pretending otherwise is naïve, but ‘tasks are changing’ is not the same as ‘you are finished’. Your strategy is to stop defining your value as output, and start building value around outcomes, trust, and good judgement that’s cleanly and clearly owned. 1. Write down 10 tasks you did last week. 2. Next to each, label it: AUTOMATE (AI can do most of it); AUGMENT (AI helps, but you must drive); HUMAN-ONLY (relationship, judgement, leadership, ethics). 3. Circle the top three tasks you want less of. 4. Star the top two Human-only tasks you want more of. 5. In one sentence, rewrite your role as an outcome, not a task. Example: not “I write reports” → “I help decisions get made with clarity and accountability.” **Soul Skill Practice: Judgement + Courage (15 minutes)** **A quick self-test. Answer yes or no:** – Most of my work is repeatable and template-driven. – My performance is measured mainly by volume. – I rarely own a recommendation; I mostly provide information. – If my work were wrong, the cost would be low. – If I left tomorrow, someone could replace me quickly. Three or more yeses, and you need to move from producing output to owning outcomes. You’re not doomed. But treat this book as a plan, not a comfort. **The human advantage here:** judgement becomes visible when you stop reporting activity and start owning decisions.
